Why doesn't the internet feel as special now as it used to be back when I was a kid?

Like I remember using a lot of the internet, playing Flash games, watching a lot of Flash animations, chatting with people on social media about my common interests with other people. Nowadays, Flash had been discontinued, and we're getting most of our entertainment off of Youtube and Steam. Also social media platforms like Reddit lost whatever magic touch it used to give me back then.

Is it really just me getting older and finding the internet not as interesting today as it used to be when I was a kid and teenager? Or did the internet just sucked over time?
