Star Wars New Dawn, Rebel Switch Help

Hey I was hoping I could get some advice from anyone who has played recently. I just got the event to switch the the rebel alliance from the dantooine empire after 80 years of gameplay. Everything is awful, 3 months in we now have 0 food, 0 alloys, 0 trade, 24 months of energy. Was this some sort of fluke? Is this supposed to happen?
