Coil & weight gain

My Kyleena coil is out of date this month after 5 years. No issues with it other than weight gain but my dr is adamant it isn’t due to the coil. Has anyone else had experience with this? I want to leave the coil out for a while to see if I can lose some weight but scared of pregnancy. What should I do. Also insertion was horrible 5 years ago so I’ve been referred to get put under but this is taking ages!
