I find it somewhat annoying that characters who are Catholic, can't just let their faith be part of their character. At some point, a writer will say... "Well, if they're Catholic, they should be a Priest!"

**Daredevil/Matt Murdock** \- Most people familiar with famous Daredevil comic runs/the show know that Matt Murdock is born and raised kitchen Catholic, but there was a run in the comics where Matt eventually takes up the cloth. Which, honestly, is just an another annoying "Matt gives up Daredevil but doesn't" story.

**Nightcrawler/Kurt Wagner** \- I'm protestant, but Nightcrawler has always been one of my favorite religious characters as he is constantly able to see the divine in a world full of hatred. A terrible storyline had him become a priest, though, because a sinister cabal was trying to get him installed as Pope in a weird Da Vince Code-like scheme

**Josh (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend)** \- This is where I first noticed the trope. The object of the protagonist's desire was Josh... a man who was "somewhat" faithful to his Catholicism. At first it just seemed like a nice contrast as she was a Jewish/Atheist and it was a clue that maybe they weren't "perfect" for each other (and gave us the excellent character of Father Brah). But start of Season 3, he joins a seminary after messing up his life. He doesn't go through with it, which makes it feel even more like... we don't know what to do with this character.

(Hated Trope) "You're a Catholic character in a long running franchise/show?... you will become a Priest"
