You hear this line repeated ad nauseum on the right, by right wing thought leaders like Jake Paul and even our own president. Not simply that they hate or kill people, but that the preferred method of execution is throwing from a large building. If you believed these people you might think that in Iran or Gaza the sight of some blue haired sexual deviant being thrown from a rooftop would be a daily occurrence. The only documented instances I can find of this were during the Syrian civil war, done by Daesh. So why repeat this about Iran or Gaza? The obvious thing is just misinformation, the constant refrain that “Hamas is ISIS” and the idea that all Muslims who oppose us are exactly the same. Yet ironically, homosexuality is also a capital offense in Dubai and Saudi Arabia, but you never have influencers claiming that they throw gay people off buildings. I think part of it is just the memetic power of the image; being thrown off a building would be truly horrifying. It is not particularly painful compared to other methods of execution, but the simplicity of it, a tacit implication that bullets will not be wasted on the likes of this person, and the grotesque reminder that we are a delicate bag of bones of organs, that, no matter how well made we are, a fall from a great height will shatter us to pieces. I can’t help but be reminded of the “free helicopter rides” meme that fascist were on a few years back. This also seems to point towards their own violent fantasies about gay/queer people.

“They throw gay people off buildings there”
