Is there an easier way to use alternate fire?

the alternate fire controls feel awkward during hectic fights. Using it while aiming/moving doesn’t feel very smooth on the DualSense. Feelings like I’m missing out on a lot of gameplay mechanics because I don’t use it as often I would like.
