Am I overreacting, or does this redundancy/redeployment process sound predetermined?

I genuinely can’t tell if I’m overreacting or if this redundancy process feels a bit predetermined.

My role (BDR/outbound focused) was formally put “at risk” during a restructure. The company rationale is that they’re moving away from direct outbound activity towards a partner-led approach, so on paper I understand the business logic behind removing the role.

What’s making me question things is more the redeployment/consultation side of it.

A few things that stood out to me:

- My role was specifically named for removal from the start.
- During consultation I applied for redeployment opportunities internally, including roles that were either very closely aligned to my experience or even lower paid.
- One role in another department almost directly mirrored the sort of work I already do.
- I was rejected extremely quickly.
- In one case, I was told there were still around five other interviews due to happen after mine, but I received feedback almost immediately anyway.
- My final consultation meeting was also brought forward unexpectedly.

Now maybe I’m reading into this too much, but it’s left me wondering:

If there were still multiple interviews remaining, how was a final view on my suitability reached that quickly? Especially as an internal redeployee already familiar with the company, product and customers.

At the same time, I’m trying to stay objective with myself here because I know:
- companies can legally remove a role,
- redundancy processes often feel cold/procedural,
- and fast feedback alone probably isn’t proof of anything sinister.

So I’m stuck between:
> “This is just a normal restructure and I’m taking it personally”

and:
> “The outcome may have effectively been decided before consultation/redeployment was meaningfully completed.”

I a haven’t gone in aggressively or accused anyone of anything because I genuinely don’t know whether I’m being rational or emotional here.

Am I overthinking this or do these concerns sound legitimate from an outside perspective?
