Lost the perfect home, devastated.

Rant

My wife and I found a farm-style property that checked basically every box for our family. Sellers had listed it since August of 2025, kept price cutting over and over, it finally fell within range for us at their latest list price.

It was still top end of our budget so we let it sit a bit more. It had been sitting on market for over 70 days at that new list price with no real movement. We toured it, loved it, and were about to make an offer. Then, the sellers pulled it off market citing being overwhelmed wiht the process, wanting to take a break...

We still came in with a serious offer and the sellers heavily engaged with us. At one point, they were basically ready to work with us because they found another house they wanted. Then they lost THAT house and suddenly became super emotional and indecisive about selling at all.

Over the next 13 days we increased our offer, accommodated longer close timelines for them, removed contingencies, and even went over what they listed. We wrote a heartfelt family letter, we repeatedly asked them to let us know what would get it done.

Meanwhile communication from the listing side was awful. Days of silence. Vague updates. “They’re still thinking.” “They’re overwhelmed.” etc.

Then out of nowhere, right when we finally get to the finish line, a previous person who toured it months ago magically resurfaces with an all cash 10 day close temporary occupancy offer.

And they accept it.

What makes me furious isn’t even losing to cash. Obviously that’s a stronger offer. It’s that after stringing us along for nearly 2 weeks, nobody transparently communicated what was actually needed to win the deal despite us literally asking to be given the chance to compete.

Just absolutely brutal. Feels like we lost the only realistic property we’ve seen in years that actually fit the vision we had for our family.

Don't even know why I am posting this, honestly.

And before you hit me with the "you'll find another" we have been looking in our area, our needs are quite specific, and this is the only one that really fit within our price range in the last 16 months. So spare me the diatribe about there always being another one.
