Does 'ELITE' status actually do anything meaningful for orders/pay/distance?

I have this dream in my head of Elite status being - Short drives, big orders, with even bigger tips, and a larger base pay....but based on the 'ethics' ive seen so far with this company/app I'm starting to get doubtful, It's starting to seem like an imaginary bar someone put there to make us work harder.

Is this something I should try for, or is it a red herring, because I purposely take HORRIBLE orders, just to get to 25 orders.
