20M confused about what I need in life.

Someone help me clear my confusion.

I used to think I needed a girlfriend before dating but once I started to date it eventually made me feel like I lost myself and my freedom. Eventually we broke up mutually. Now I am confused as to all this time i wanted a girlfriend or just someone whom i can trust to share everything. Now I feel like I have no one to share my issues or happiness with.
