I Built a Personal Finance App That Lives Entirely on Your Phone. No Cloud, No Servers, No Excuses
One thing I learned while building Finledge is that “deep research” usually starts when you stop looking at what people say they want and start studying what repeatedly frustrates them.
For me, the biggest insights came from:
-
reading 1★ reviews of competing apps
-
noticing repeated complaints on Reddit/YouTube
-
watching how people currently solve the problem manually
-
identifying what users hate tolerating
That’s actually why I built Finledge. I kept seeing people frustrated with:
→ finance apps collecting too much data
→ forced cloud accounts
→ bloated UX
→ manual expense entry
So instead of trying to build “another finance app,” I focused on:
→ privacy-first
→ local-only storage
→ SMS-based UPI expense detection (India only)
→ fast logging
I think good market research is less about “finding opportunity” and more about finding emotional pain people already live with daily.
