I dropped out of college, moved across the country, left everyone behind. 8 years later I am alone. How do I rekindle old relationships or make new friends as an adult?

I dropped out of college and left everyone behind to work in a city halfway across the country. At the time, I thought I had a great opportunity, but over the years, I've realized I've just been working shit jobs with no room for growth in an industry that is dying.

I haven't kept in touch with friends from high school or college, and now, after almost a decade, they feel like a distant memory. I see everyone graduating, getting married, and having kids, etc. I've reached out recently to some people, but they've moved on. I'm just some random dude they used to hang out with for a few semesters in college, and besides, I live halfway across the country anyways.

I've made quite a few acquaintances in the industry I work in, but no real friends. Everyone is in their 40's and has families, why would they hang out with a 20-something kid? I thought it was cool to skip over having fun in my early 20's and just work 100 hours a week, thinking I'm building something. But I just burned myself out and moved to the middle of nowhere to take on a low-stress job that pays less.

Now that I have this realization that I don't want to chase money anymore and that spending time with people makes me happier, I am alone and don't know how to make friends.

Everyone seems to have a core group of friends from high school or college and doesn't really seem to deviate from that. But now that everyone is busy with work and their families and stuff, how do I even make friends and then have the time to hang out with them?

But the main problem now is that I haven't even seen anyone who looks like me in this random town I moved to. I literally haven't seen someone +/-10yrs of my age that is the same race as me in over a year in this town. I just want to talk to someone in my native language.
