Am I overreacting, or does this redundancy/redeployment process sound predetermined? England

Employment

I work for a company based in England and have been there for just over 3 years.

Recently my role was formally put “at risk” as part of a restructuring/redundancy consultation process. The company rationale is that they are moving away from direct outbound activity towards a partner-led approach, so on paper I understand the business reason behind removing the role itself.

What I’m struggling with is whether the consultation/redeployment process was actually genuine or whether the outcome had effectively already been decided.

A few things that stood out to me:

- My role was specifically named for removal from the beginning.
- During consultation I applied for internal redeployment opportunities.
- Some of the roles were closely aligned to my experience, including one with lower pay that almost directly mirrored the type of work I already do.
- I was rejected extremely quickly.
- In one case, I was told there were still around five interviews due to happen after mine, but I received feedback almost immediately anyway.
- My final consultation meeting was also unexpectedly brought forward.

Now I appreciate:
- companies can legally make roles redundant,
- consultation processes often feel procedural,
- and fast feedback alone probably isn’t proof of anything improper.

So I’m trying to stay objective and not emotionally overreact.

But equally, I’m struggling to understand how I could realistically have been fully considered for redeployment if:
- there were still multiple interviews remaining,
- I was an internal at-risk employee,
- and some of the roles were very closely aligned to my existing experience.

I haven’t accused the company of anything and I’ve stayed professional throughout, but from an outside perspective does this sound like a normal redundancy/redeployment process, or does it potentially sound like the outcome may already have been predetermined?

I’m mainly trying to understand whether I’m just taking this personally, or whether my concerns are actually reasonable.
