Using Wedding Photography Presets Do They Actually Save Editing Time?

I used to think wedding presets were kinda fake marketing stuff until I shot my second wedding and had like 2,000 photos staring back at me. At that point I was desperate lol.

Tried a popular preset pack and yeah, it actually saved me a stupid amount of time. Not because the photos instantly looked perfect, but because everything started from the same vibe instead of editing every image from scratch like a maniac.

The biggest help was keeping skin tones consistent. Before presets, half my gallery looked warm and cozy while the other half looked like it was shot on another planet. Clients definitely notice that stuff.

That said, presets are not magic buttons. Some looked terrible depending on lighting. Outdoor golden hour shots looked amazing, but indoor reception photos sometimes turned orange and muddy real fast. I still had to tweak exposure, white balance, and shadows on a bunch of images.

One thing I learned is that subtle presets work way better long term. The super trendy edits with crazy faded blacks and nuclear orange skin started looking dated fast.

Also, making your own modified version of a preset is 100% worth it. I eventually adjusted one pack to match my style better and now editing goes way faster without every wedding looking identical.

So yeah, presets helped a lot, especially for bulk editing. Just don’t expect them to magically fix bad lighting or missed focus. Learned that one the painful way.
