Does the $20/$50 trick still work at Planet Hollywood Vegas in 2026 or is it just an old wives’ tale?

Going to Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Resort & Casino in August for my first-ever Vegas trip and I’ve been watching loads of YouTube videos and reading Reddit threads about the famous $20/$50 “sandwich trick” at check-in for room upgrades/views etc.

Some people swear by it, others say it’s outdated now with kiosks/mobile check-in and hotels being stricter.

Has anyone done it recently at Planet Hollywood specifically? Did it actually work and what sort of upgrade did you get? Better view/high floor/suite etc?

Also curious if people are using $20, $50 or even more now because of inflation 😂

Would appreciate any tips for a Vegas first-timer too!
