In a way, pvp pokemon is basically the opposite the prominent aspects of what i enjoy from pokemon single player: the training/grinding of mons and the ability to turn your brain off while battling
In pvp, i have to sweat and basically think akin to how i play chess, but with pieces we chose and “built” ourselves. It gets mentally exhausting and stressful. Sometimes, you just want to chill, turn your brain off, grind and oneshot like in single player pokemon. That was one of the main appeals of pokemon - it’s a game where you can simulate training your mons and just turn your brain off and feel OP and one-shot through the game. I feel like newer pokemon titles have dropped that aspect of feeling like you’re training your mons with exp all and just giving you freebie mythicals all of the time. Just some thoughts. What do you think? Champions basically feels like the opposite of what made main pokemon very appealing to the majority even though it’s the highest level of play given the mechanics of the game.
