Nietzsche and the Vibes Of Cosmos
The more I think about the VoC framework, the more I think Friedrich Nietzsche fits into it surprisingly well.
Not because Nietzsche was talking about UFOs, Antarctica, or cosmology.
But because he spent much of his philosophy asking a deeper question:
How much of what we call “reality” is actually interpretation stabilized over time?
That idea becomes very interesting when applied to science, models, and large-scale inference.
Most people imagine science as:
direct observation
direct certainty
direct contact with reality itself
But in practice, human beings experience the world locally and then construct larger frameworks from relationships, measurements, abstractions, and interpretations.
That does not make science false.
It makes science a process of organized inference.
And I think that is where Nietzsche overlaps with VoC.
Within the VoC framework, the important question is often not:
“Are the observations real?”
The observations usually are real.
The deeper question is:
What interpretive structure are we using to organize those observations into a model of reality?
Nietzsche repeatedly challenged the idea that humans encounter reality free from conceptual frameworks.
VoC circles a similar tension:
local observation vs global interpretation
perception vs model
accepted structure vs underlying ambiguity
That is why I think Nietzsche fits into VoC better than most people would initially expect.
Not as a physicist.
As a philosopher of interpretation itself.
