MacCready Incredibly Buggy

I'm trying to do a complete playthrough of Fallout 4, getting all the bobbleheads and magazines and companion affinities up. I already did Preston and Piper, they were pretty easy, but now i'm trying to max out affinity on MacCready and it's just not working.

I got him to 250 affinity easily. Just did some side jobs, asked for more money, and did some lockpicking. I killed Winlock and Barnes, and that was that.

Then was the slow, slow grind to 750. I worked on this for a few days, before noticing his affinity just *stopped* rising for some reason. I checked every wiki page and did a bunch of searches, and found no reason why his affinity would randomly stop at 690 and refuse to grow. Okay, i'm tired of grinding for him, so I decide to set his affinity to 750 in the console. He never gives me the dialogue to go to MedTek, so I decide to just boost the quest forward in the console as well to make it work.

We go through MedTek fine, finish MacCready's quest without a hitch, and I think i'll finally get what I want, but then I realize he *still doesn't gain affinity.* frustrated and exhausted, plus having done so much to boost by this point I just consoled him up to 1000 affinity.

Now he won't give me the idolizing dialogue. I try to force his dialogue with a command, and he acts like I just killed Winlock and Barnes again. I try to mess with his affinity more and nothing happens. I travel all over the map to try and let time pass, nothing happens. I really want to gain idolized so I can romance and get his perk, but nothing seems to work. Is there a fix i'm missing, or do I just drop him at a quiet corner of the map and give myself the perk?
