*Hazbin Hotel* portrays the Adam as this crass, misogynistic douche-bag who kills for the fun of it. This doesn't make sense. Putting the first man in this role brings a lot of baggage that the show just ignores. Why is Adam so eager to slaughter his own progeny? Does he not feel partly responsible for making them sinners? Why does he talk about women and dating as if he isn't married to the second woman he met? How does he feel about Lucifer or Lillith? These and other questions are ignored completely. The narrative doesn't incorporate Adam's history into his characterization in any way. You could replace him with an original character and it wouldn't change anything.

Now imagine Adam's role was played by Abel. Not the version of Abel in S2, but a different one. Almost everything makes more sense. Abel would *actually* be the first human soul to enter Heaven, having been murdered hundreds of years before his father's death. In slaughtering sinners, Abel would not be killing his own progeny, because he never had any. That opportunity was taken from him. Abel did everything right, only to be betrayed by the person closest to him. And in a completely, senseless, irrational murder. Abel is the first - and one of the most tragic - victim of mankind's evil. Now Cain and his sons have filled the Earth with their wickedness, while Abel has died with no legacy. It's not fair. Abel hating half of humanity would make sense. Abel seeing himself as better than the sinners would make sense. Even his attitude toward women would make more sense, assuming he never had a wife.

I know most people think of Abel as gentle and meek, but for story purposes, there's a clear path for how he could have become the person that Adam is in *Hazbin Hotel*.

Hear Me Out: Abel should have had Adam's role
