Tiny things to ignore in perfect crown for a perfect watch ft. Favourite moments in the drama
Ignore
1.constitutional monarchy -because the class system still exists . No equality among citizens which the constitution should provide.
The king has too many duties that he gets burnt out. He is not a figure head as claimed in the title.
- Palace security - non existent , you can hack the private schedule of the grand prince with a phome call and stalk him more than once without getting arrested.
the palace catches fire 3 times and nobody notices until the whole building blows up.
The interior of the palace is modernised but they never installed sprinklers for fire safety after the first fire.
3 prime minister's job - seems to be managing the palace politics rather than citizens. Has more free time than the prince with no power.
4 selective amnesia of character settings - the grand prince will be stalked by the female lead during his morning RUN outdoors in episode 1 but in the next episodes you will hear royalty are not allowed to run.
The king avoids the personal royal hospital to avoid being seen but walks into the subway with zero disguise for PPL.
- Ambiguous royalty origin ( skip this point if you are not familiar with Korean history or history based drama ) - the story is said to have continued from the joseon era.
In the actual joseon era only the 'queen mother' acted as regents for their son.
Male lead becoming regent is a practice in japanese royal family.
Banquet in korean or chinese royal gatherings have performers( like sword dance and quinn players) not ballroom dances like westerners.
Note -
this is a script issue not a actor / actress criticism. A lot of these issues will be ignored once you get immersed into the characters or story.
It is a fun watch with a hint of daily soap elements.
Series overview:
It is addictive once you get hooked.
First 2 episodes are setting up the alternate world and characters , the next 2 episodes establish most of the dynamics between characters, then it is a joy ride for 2 episodes, followed by 2 episodes of chaos and drama, 2 episodes of emotional breakdown and last 2 episodes for final conflict and probably happy resolution.
The first half has the funny elements while the second half is more emotional , dramatic and acting wise more gripping.
