Obstructive Kidney Stone in ureter, wait for urologist appointment or go to ER?
Hi docs,
I'm 33, male, 6'1", 210lbs and am currently taking flomax once a day and losartan hcl 100mg/12.5. I am hypertensive and have had my gallbladder removed due to calculi, I've had my share of kidney stones too, although it's been a while since I've last had one (like 5 years?), I always pass them naturally.
I've been dealing with some kidney stone pain since last Sunday (9 days now), the pain comes and goes, I've never had a kidney stone last this long. I went to a urologist last Thursday after getting a sono to confirm I had stones and she ordered a CT, at that point the sono had revealed that the stones were non-obstructive, with the largest being .8 cm.
Yesterday I managed to get a CT scan and today I got the results back, it looks like the stone moved from the kidney and is now obstructing my right ureter, as you can see from the picture below. I can't be seen by the urologist that saw me last week until middle of next week as she is in a medical convention. I managed to snag an appointment to a urologist this Thursday as the earliest.
My question is, should I wait until Thursday to get seen by the urologist, or does this warrant an ER visit due to the obstruction?
