Confused by this game.

Was online playing multiplayer. My opponent was basically spamming and I was playing counter puncher, in 3 rounds my opponent did not hurt me, no gray vision or anything indicating he hurt me. However end of round 2 I hurt him with a counter uppercut, heard the sound when you hurt the opponent and his face changed. Round 3 I countered his spam right away hurt the sound and his face indicating that he's hurt, the entire round 3 he was like this and I still end up loosing on damage????!!!!???

Wtffdfffffhdgdhhdsbf so confusing.
