Struggling with color isolation, tracking & keyframes in DaVinci Resolve Studio – looking for advice (or a German-speaking mentor till Sunday :)

Help | Beginner

Hey Everyone

I used claude to translate this text and explain my problems.

I'm working on a short film project with BlackWhite look and with selective red color isolation. Fairly new to advanced color grading.

I'm not sharing video clips because some people in the film haven't consented to being posted online, hope that's understandable.

Running into a few issues:

  1. Matching red tones across two objects in the same shot

When two separate objects each have their own node in a Layer Mixer, they clash wherever they overlap. one "wins" and the color pops visually. Is there a cleaner way to handle this?

  1. Tracking an object that disappears mid-shot

A hat accessory is visible for a few seconds, disappears when the actress turns her head, then reappears. Classic tracker fails. Magic Mask v2 is better but I'm unsure how to handle the gap cleanly.

  1. Person walking in front of a static masked area

Red books on a bookshelf in the background. Someone walks past and her jacket briefly picks up the red. Is Qualifier + Power Window the right fix, or is there something cleaner?

  1. Activating a mask only partway through a clip

Want a mask to be inactive for the first ~17 seconds, then switch on. Keyframing Window opacity works partially but I'm confused about keyframes in the color tab and the Tracker keyframes don't appear in the main Keyframe corner.

Any help appreciated! And if you're German-speaking and wouldn't mind being a sounding board for a few days: bitte meld dich, ich brauche hilfe :( 🙏
