Started building a simple bill splitting app after noticing the same real-life problem over and over

This actually started pretty spontaneously.

I kept seeing the same awkward situation during dinners, trips, bars, group outings etc: people passing phones around, manually calculating who owes what, forgetting payments later, or arguing over receipts.

I tried a few existing apps, but most felt too bloated or overcomplicated for what should be a very quick interaction.

So I started building my own simple app focused on:

fast bill splitting

receipt scanning

minimal UI

fewer taps and friction

At this stage I’m mostly trying to validate the direction and understand whether people still want focused/simple apps instead of giant “all in one” platforms.

Would genuinely appreciate feedback from both developers and users:

what annoys you most with current bill splitting apps?

what would make you keep one installed?

do you think simplicity is enough of a differentiator today?
