Insurance company told me I can get a discount if I install a certified battery backup
Renewing my homeowner's insurance next month and my agent mentioned they're offering a premium reduction for homes with UL9540 certified backup power systems. Something about reduced risk of loss from outage related damage like burst pipes and spoiled food. The discount isn't huge, about $180/year, but it's enough to make me look into it seriously since I've been wanting backup power anyway.
The catch is it's not just about having UL9540 certification. My agent said they also want proof that the system passed UL9540A testing, which is a separate fire safety test that covers thermal runaway and fire propagation. I assumed anything with UL9540 would've gone through 9540A automatically but apparently that's not the case, a lot of products on the market only have the base UL9540 cert and never went through the 9540A testing.
I've been researching and it seems like the Anker E10 has both. Does anyone know what other residential systems have passed UL9540A? And for people who have the E10 did you use the certification to get any kind of insurance benefit?
