Were you allowed to cry as a child?

I just woke up from a short, but destructive flair up. My husband and I had a fight every day the last 3 days. I cried and screamed on my own, but could not access empathy or tears around him. I felt completely blank around him. It made me think about my childhood and how I was not allowed to cry unless I had a good reason to. I notice my empathy toward myself is nonexistent while in a pmdd haze. I tell myself how stupid and stubborn and awful Im being and how what Im fighting about is stupid and I shouldn't feel a certain way. I guess Im just wondering if this stems from how I was brought up. It feels like a cure is to be witnessed. Maybe this isnt even PMDD related. Idk

If you were allowed to cry and show your true emotions growing up but you still stuffer from PMDD, I'd be really curious to hear from you!
