i ordered food by myself without panicking halfway through

Managed to cope with something difficult

this is gonna sound SO stupid compared to the other stuff people post here but i’m genuinely proud of myself today lol.

i have really bad anxiety around small normal human interactions for some reason. like phone calls, asking workers for help, ordering things, talking to strangers etc. my brain somehow turns all of it into a life threatening situation

ordering food is weirdly one of the biggest ones.

usually i’ll open the app, spend forever deciding what i want, read reviews i absolutely do not need to read, finally place the order… then immediately start regretting it.

and then my brain starts doing the thing.

“what if i typed the address wrong”
“what if the driver calls me and i sound weird”
“what if i accidentally ordered something embarrassing”
“what if they can tell i’m awkward”
literally nonsense. complete nonsense. but my brain acts like this is a serious emergency.

there have genuinely been times where i cancelled the order before it arrived because i got too anxious about interacting with the delivery person for 8 seconds

anyway today i was exhausted and hungry and had zero energy to cook. i almost talked myself out of ordering AGAIN but eventually i was like okay this is ridiculous just order the stupid food.

after i ordered it i immediately started pacing around my room questioning every life decision as usual

but then the driver showed up and literally all that happened was:

him: “hey”
me: “thank you”
him: “no problem”

THE END.

that was the whole interaction. no awkward disaster. nobody laughed at me. the world kept spinning normally.

and idk why but after i closed the door i just stood there holding my food feeling weirdly emotional over something so tiny because people without anxiety probably cannot understand how exhausting it is when your own brain turns basic tasks into full mental battles for no reason.

anyway. i ate my food while feeling ridiculously proud of myself lol.
