A Success Story
I posted here a lot during the end of my marriage, even to the point of posting a “suicide note” of sorts before going inpatient for my second time last summer, in the aftermath of my separation.
In the time following that, on my healing journey with new meds under my belt, I met a wonderful man who I am so proud to call my boyfriend. He’s so sweet, calm, and understanding, and makes me feel at peace. He reminds me to take my meds, encourages me to stay in therapy, and rides out the little waves in my mood that break through the meds.
I’m a whole mess of psychiatric conditions, BP1, GAD, PTSD, and probably AuDHD, BPD, and a touch of OCD. He loves me through all of them. I never imagined life and relationships could feel this stable and secure. I know most of it is a matter of me being so responsible for the treatment of my disorder with meds and therapy, but it wouldn’t be possible without a partner who is so well matched for me keeping me steady.
Shoutout to all of you trying to be as equally supportive of your partners. I hope they take the same responsibility for their mental health as I have. A peaceful, happy life with a BP partner is possible.
