Abruptly stopping Prednisolone?

Hi all,

I’ll try and keep it short, but our sweet girl got diagnosed with Meningitis, and as a result has ended up losing both eyes. She was started on Prednisolone on the 2nd of this month (just under two weeks ago) taking one tablet per day, then bumped up to one and a half. She is a nine year old Chihuahua with no prior health issues.

She’s just had her second eye removed, and the vet has said she can’t continue Prednisolone for the next two weeks while she recovers, which means she’s stopping it today. I’ve read about it and how it’s emphasised that they should be tapered off slowly and never stop cold turkey, so I’m incredibly scared for her. I just want to know what to expect & look out for :[
