Communism and socialism will not work on the scale you are all talking about.

Unmoderated

Title says it. To clarify I am talking about countries that run fully on communism and socialism not ones that are only part socialist or communist and still also have influence from other government systems. Only 5 countries are under complete control by a communist party, those being North Korea, Laos, China, Vietnam, and Cuba. The two of these countries that actually are successful and well known and participate (in the case of China) heavily in international relations. For all of these countries (China and North Korea especially) have heavy rules against free speech and what you can and cannot do. The reason these countries have survived for this long is because they have been able to establish themselves in trade routes and profit enough from this to maintain power over the civilians in that country. North Korea itself mostly relies on trade from China to keeps it's power. Many countries which were previously controlled by a communist ruling party like the Soviet Union have collapsed under economic strain and the protests and revolt of civilians in the country. The countries that still have communist ruling power are ones that have had that system established for long enough that they have been able to set up a system that balances all of the requirements to be successful. I do not think any new countries (that play a major role in international trade and relation) will become communist. With most countries being so used to a different government system the switch would be chaotic at best and catastrophic at worst. Revolts against the new ruling would be widespread no matter what country it happens in and the ruling party would have to stomp down rebellion quickly. The process of revolts and protests would prevent a quiet transition of power and alert other countries of what is happening. Those countries if they are democratic like the USA would likely object to this and may refuse to establish trade with the new communist state which would in turn severely cripple the new government. The only reason the other countries that are successful right now have been able to stay communist for so long is that the transition of power happened gradually or the country was strong enough to beat off resistance. Even if you could establish a communist state why would anyone desire to live under that system? We already know the state will have to suppress free speech and resistance so what would the benefit be? If you want to please feel free to rebuke or debate any of my claims and I will respond with my own counterpoints.
