Visiting new school out of term time
We are an English family, currently overseas, moving back to England in July once our kids school tern ends here.
We are currently in a panic about sorting out a possible rental for early July, because we thought that if we wanted the kids to visit their new school in England (before they start, to tour it so they aren’t too scared in September when they start for real), we’d have to do so before the end of the English term, which for primaries I believe is 17th July.
However, is it possible to visit a school for a look-around introductory tour during the summer holidays, in anyone’s experience? The schools we will be applying to don’t seem to do any kind of induction days aside from for reception year, and our kids will be Y2 and Y5.
Of course, obviously I’ll phone the schools directly to enquire tomorrow, but in order to knock down some of our Big Country Move stress levels for one evening, I figured I’d ask the Reddit parenting experience ! Sorry if these questions seem dim; our kids weren’t school age when we moved away, so we have zero experience of English schooling with them!
