Accomodation in Opaallaan

Hey, I got admitted to VU Amsterdam and paid for the VU housing lottery. Now they sent me a special offer outside the normal lottery and I’m not sure if I should take it.

It’s a 2-year DUWO studio in Opaallaan, Hoofddorp (private bathroom + kitchen) from July 2026 until June 2028. Rent is around €770–890 with costs included, and they say it qualifies for huurtoeslag.

The main advantage is guaranteed housing for the full master, but it’s around 40 min from Amsterdam.

Does anyone know this place or lived there before? How are the rooms, area, people, safety, commute, etc.? Is this a good deal or should I wait for the normal VU housing lottery?
