Rare wont act. We must instead.
Over the past few days, Rare have shown their hand. We've had a none announcement. We've had censorship. And now, clearly, they have decided the best stratergy is to disengage and do nothing. We cannot allow them to sweep this under a rug. We all have a duty to protect vulnerable people from nonces. Personally, I'm sick of predators getting away with it.
We need to protect our children.
For those of you unaware. Read "The Bruno Files". Be aware that this document does contain themes of SA, grooming and the like.
What I think our next steps as a community should be
I'm a quiet lurker. Ultimately, it's up to the community to decide, but I think our next steps should be taken from r/Helldivers's playbook and hit them where it hurts. The piggy bank.
It's hard to recommend a game to people knowing that children and young people may not be safe. I have personally changed my Stream Review to that of a negative one. I think it's important that if you guys feel the same way, you show that too. I'll be real, I'm not sure what reviewing it will be like on the microsoft store, but hell, it's better than nothing.
Getting as many eyes on this as possible
I think the next move should be contacting media outlets, large content creators, and even Microsoft Executives. We need to get as many eyes on this as possible. While we all know about it, I've yet to see any reporting or massive creators talking about this.
When it comes to executives. I've tried to email as many people as possible within Xbox. Unfortunately, the only emails that do not bounce are:
satyan@microsoft.com - Microsofts CEO
askboard@microsoft.com - Microsofts Board of Directors.
Journalists:
I have emailed serveral journalists at Dexerto, and Polygon (editorial@polygon.com). I think it's important that if you feel strongly about this, you reach out to these people and tell them how you feel. I'll be honest, I've struggled to find other contact details, if anyone reading this has any other points of contact, please respond to this message and I'll add it at the bottom.
Large Content Creators:
I don't think I need to even explain this one. Send them The Bruno Files. Get as many eyes on this as possible.
To conclude
We all have a duty to protect our kids. Rare are hoping this goes away. We cannot let that happen. We need to make our voices heard.
