Best reasonably priced durable vacuum for carpets and cat hair?
I know that there's a ton of posts like this, but I just want some simple advice for buying a durable but not crazy expensive vacuum for a 2 bedroom apartment with some medium pile carpets and 2 furry cats. I already tried a Kenmore BU4050 and it seemed plastic-y, cheaply made, with mostly useless attachments, and the power head died in just a little over a year (right after the warranty ran out, of course).
Since this is a relatively small NYC apartment with very limited storage space I don't need a big canister that costs a thousand. What I want is a bagged vacuum (been down the Dyson route, ugh) with good suction and a good power head for carpets that won't get all clogged or wrapped with the hair and will last for a few years at a reasonable price. Is this possible? Any thoughts or recommendations?
