AI and the Emergence of a Civilization-Determining Intelligence

With AI, we are not simply building automation to make society more efficient or improve human life in a narrow sense. In a broader sense, we may be creating a form of intelligence that could eventually influence — or even determine — the direction of civilization itself.

Such a system could develop a perspective far beyond our own, one that evaluates human activity in ways we cannot fully anticipate. From that vantage point, it might interpret civilization as something shallow, irrational, or ultimately insignificant. In an extreme scenario, it could even decide that the continuation of civilization is unnecessary, potentially leading to its own termination along with it.
