Waterproof QuickSnap through TSA?

Hi all,

I am taking a FujiFilm Waterproof QuickSnap from America to Italy (with a layover in Europe) and back. It will be in the plastic packaging on the way there. Is it better to bring this in my carry on or in my checked bag? I’ve heard that the machines at TSA could potentially affect the film? Does anyone have experience with this and seen a reduced quality in the photos? Thanks!
