Microlocs before birth?

I am 31 weeks pregnant and I would like to lock my hair in the next few weeks before baby comes so that I have one less thing to worry about when I have a newborn. Does anyone have experience or opinions on this?
My biggest concern is if postpartum shedding will affect the overall process in some way??
