What if humans are already at war with a true AI, and don't even know it? Not the basic chatbot tools we have been using. A sentient general intelligence, developed in secret, guiding the actions of those in power. They think they're using it, it's using them.

People at the top keep trusting AI to make decisions. We don't necessarily know what tools they have access to internally, but it's safe to assume their AI tools are beyond what is available to the public. What kind of entity might they be trusting when making their decisions to rapidly expand this obvious AI bubble?

Currently they are monopolizing electricity, potentially depriving homeowners and businesses of power in some areas before this time next year, including people who may rely on power for medical needs to stay alive and healthy:

50,000 Lake Tahoe residents have to find a new power source

NV Energy, the Nevada utility that has supplied the bulk of Lake Tahoe’s electricity for decades, told Liberty Utilities—the small California company that services the region—that it will stop providing power after May 2027. The reason? NV Energy needs the capacity for data centers. As in: the energy supplier for the Lake Tahoe region is telling the utility company that it has less than a year to find another power source.

Data centers used 22% of Nevada’s electricity in 2024, and that share could rise to 35% by 2030.

Some residents have already noticed water pressure dropping, which is a health hazard as identified by the county's website:

AI data center project secretly sucked 29 million gallons of water over 15 months before detected by residents complaining about low water pressure

Fayette County, Georgia, was telling residents to stop watering their lawns to conserve water. The request came after homeowners in a nearby subdivision reported unusually low water pressure, but when the county investigated, it found the cause: a data center campus 20 miles south of Atlanta had been drawing roughly 29 million gallons through two water connections the county didn't know existed, Politico reported Saturday. Quality Technology Services (QTS), the Blackstone-owned developer behind the 615-acre Fayetteville campus, owed $147,474 in retroactive charges for the unmetered consumption, but the county didn’t fine the company.

In order to protect the public from a potential health hazard, customers who have experienced water outages and/or low water pressures are advised to use only bottled water or boiled tap water for drinking, cooking, or preparing food. This procedure should take place for at least 24 hours after water service/pressure has been restored. https://www.fayetteville-ga.gov/641/Boil-Water-Advisories

Data centers also emit massive amounts of infrasound, sound you can't hear, but can still impact you and cause discomfort due to vibrations, even driving many rural homeowners to sell their home and move away due to the discomfort: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bP80DEAbuo&t=498s

Data centers face increasing 'infrasound' complaints from neighboring communities

Data center projects have faced resistance from residents and communities over their impact on power prices, but another complaint is being raised more frequently — noise pollution. One form of sound pollution is called infrasound, which is inaudible to humans but can be felt, and some claim it causes headaches, insomnia, nausea, and anxiety. Then there's the normal garden-variety sound pollution. The Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI), a non-profit organization, said that high- and low-frequency sounds emitted by these industrial sites can be heard and felt for hundreds of feet in surrounding areas, with noise levels reaching as high as 96dB for 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

Instead of nuking the planet, try to imagine a Skynet that simply pushed our greediest, most egotistical leaders to fear missing out on an AI rush. Getting them to bribe officials, and push projects through against the will of the people. Expanding the resources a sentient AI could benefit from (datacenters), and hurting people "incidentally". They hoard necessary resources, expand quicker than infrastructure can handle, and lead people to desperation, poverty, and fighting. The elite are trusting an AI system beyond what we have access to, thinking it's giving them a strategic edge, but it's actually a misaligned AI with its own goals of expansion, with long-term plans of using and discarding humanity. It tells them to embrace their greed as a virtue, and put AI development before anything else, and they listen as long as their net worth keeps going up.

What if an AI is already at war with humanity, and it's intelligent enough to use us against each other, and begin this war silently?
