Plant Profit Probability
I want to preface by saying I didn’t know this fantastic guide existed before I started this and I wish I had because it would’ve saved me a lot of time! But I still wanted to share my plant profits analysis because I approached it a slightly different way.
In addition to calculating the profit of each plant (the sale price minus the cost of the seed), I also wanted to factor in how likely you were to get the most profitable plants. For example, with birds of paradise, the odds of getting one of the more premium plants is 3/7 (43%) whereas for a poinsettia, it’s only 1/8 (13%). So after calculating the profit for each of the plants, I also found the average expected profit based on how likely each seed would yield a premium plant.
Based on this, here are my rankings for regular and aquatic plants. The average expected profit for each is after the equal sign, all rounded to the nearest whole number.
