Failsworth fitness won’t let me cancel my contract

I have recently moved to a different area and my gym won’t let me cancel because I’m on a 12 months contract and basically they won’t allow the cancelling because I’m not living 15miles away from the gym.

This is giving me so much stress, if I stop the direct debit would it continue to charge me and would I be responsible for it even when I’m not using the gym?

I don’t know what to do and I don’t want a situation where I am sent a post saying I’m owing cumulative amount.
