Do you have a favourite murder mystery game where the victim dies in the middle of the game?

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of hosting a mystery dinner with friends and was wondering if any of you had recommendations, specifically ones where the victim dies later on (TL;DR at the bottom)

Last time we played it really pulled us out of the scenes that we basically met up for dinner after a friend/colleague died and we just kept chatting through a streamlined adventure. The adventure also revealed new information that would've already been known to the character so that was whack af (aka playing with the info bits you received in your little pamphlet, having to retcon it to the opposite when the next course hits, "oh actually you hate this person" "oh btw you're the murderer" in round 3). IMO often an inherent flaw of the murder mystery dinner concept, but I'd be happy to hear your experience!

I thought it would be cool if let's say there's a round 1 where everyone gets to meet and make sure certain pieces of lore are placed (relationships, red herrings, little narrated actions), then during the main course you get the shocking news that someone died and the victim returns as the detective or smth and then you'd be able to discuss clues or investigate.

Some of us have dnd/tabletop rpg experience so I wouldn't mind possibly crafting a oneshot of sorts, but maybe someone here has had a good similar experience with something already on the market? Or am I actually just describing a homebrew oneshot lmao?

TL;DR Looking for murder mystery dinner game recommendations where the victim dies during midgame (possibly to return as a new role or as a detective of sorts)

Thanks!
