Not For Everyone and Cat Gate!
I thought about the final podcast episode (I don't really think the podcast will come back) and what happened after Jess said that the viewer who quit her internship to look after her terminally ill cat went over the top and it was like quitting a job to get a manicure. Jess got criticised for it and Caroline then defended her in the comments saying Jess essentially leaned and grew in the episode through the discussion.
In the final episode they said that they were not sure where to put their focus and they kind of settled on being an advice podcast.
Maybe this is where the problem was - to be able to give advice you have to be able to fully put yourself in the shoes of the person that is asking and show empathy. Jess wasn't able to do that. Caroline frequently upset people with thoughtless comments about Gaza.
Just being in therapy and using therapy speech does not qualify someone to give advice. That is where the criticism comes from. You cannot ask for space to "learn and grow" whilst simultaneously positioning yourself as the person providing guidance.
Their focus did not suit them and that's why it didn't work. At least this is what I think after cat gate.
