Flies all over the Celebrity Infinity buffet?

I’m on my second Celebrity cruise. Just a couple days into the Infinity 11-day Mediterranean cruise, I’m seeing flies all over the Oceanview Cafe—I’m talking landing on the tables and chairs in particularly sunny areas, flying around diners’ shoulders, and visibly crawling on food in the buffet.

My travel companion asked a staff member in the area, and she seemed to imply that this is normal given the location. (Currently Greece, but she said in Istanbul there are even more flies.) I’m totally baffled, given how I was on the Ascent’s Mediterranean itinerary last year, and I didn’t see any in the buffet.

Is this normal? Would this be something to raise to guest relations? I just want to raise the alarm. Buffets are already higher risk, sanitation wise, but adding lots of flies to it is really pushing it beyond my personal comfort threshold.
