I’m thinking about upgrading my all-in-one inkjet in 2024? (from a repair guy)
Hey guys! Been a printer repair man for about eight years in a small shop. Lately as ink and parts prices soar (thanks economy), I generally tell friends do not buy cheap printers. The sweet spot of value is in the midrange Epson EcoTank, Canon MegaTank. The price hurts upfront but you’ll pay that off in a year from the savings in ink price.
One trick you should use is check Alibaba for generic maintenance boxes, reset keys, etc., but always read reviews first. I’ve also looked Alibaba and Facebook, Amazon for Businesses selling used printers (like et-4850) as they tend to be thermally better than typical home/home office level printers, plus as long as you print once a week you’re less likely to clog nozzles. Also always run nozzles check after printers firmware updates, as they love breaking non OEM items.
Safety wise, just keep vents clean, these thing use UV inks etc. anyways, they’re not easy to mess with.
I’m stuck, what have been reliable printers for you in 2024 that are reasonably priced?
