On this day, **Doom** exploded into our lives. Not the old one. The new one. The one that reminded us: shooters can be fast, mean, and have zero cover mechanics.

Doom 2016 dropped at a time when everyone was tired of "cinematic experiences" and crawling from wall to wall. And it said: "Screw that. Run. Shoot. Crank up the metal."

It never apologized for its brutality. It never hid mechanics behind story cutscenes. It just threw you into hell with a shotgun and said: "Figure it out."

And it worked.

Doom 2016 was a breath of fresh air. It brought back speed, intensity, and a soundtrack that makes you want to smash your monitor. Without it, there'd be no Doom Eternal. No boom of "boomer shooters" we're all enjoying now.

So raise your shotgun, blast *BFG Division*, and drink to the game that saved a genre from boredom.

**Happy birthday, Doom. You're still fucking awesome.**
