is a pocket cam actually worth it for beginner content creators

DISCUSSION

I’ve been trying to make more short videos lately and I keep going back and forth on whether a pocket cam is worth buying.

Right now I mostly use my phone, which is fine, but I hate how awkward it feels for walking clips and casual vlog style shots. I want something small that I can carry around and use without making the whole thing feel like a production.

I know Pocket 3 is probably the safe answer. It seems polished and reliable.

But I’m also wondering if something cheaper like XTRA Muse is already enough for beginner content. Most of what I’d post would end up on TikTok, IG, or YouTube Shorts anyway, so I’m not sure I need to chase the most expensive option.

I keep seeing people talk about newer cameras coming soon too, but part of me feels like waiting forever is just stopping me from actually making anything.

For people who create short form content, did a pocket cam actually improve your workflow? Or is phone footage still good enough if the idea is strong?
