Had an interview for my dream internship that I have been wanting for a year and a half. It’s a clinical psychology internship with the government where you can get certain certifications that really help to jumpstart your career if you want to become a clinical psychologist. I was already happy I got invited in the first place, I know they have a lot of applications each year and only 1 spot.

Interview went well, even though I was pretty nervous I think I left a good impression and was able to explain my intrinsic motivation. Spent the last three days anxiously awaiting to hear their decision. Slept really poorly because I kept thinking of things I could have done differently during the interview (completely pointless, I know, but I just couldnt help myself). Got a call back today that they thought I was a very strong candidate and I certainly had the qualifications, but there was someone else who was just a better match. Although it was nice to hear that I was a good candidate, it somehow also made me really sad. Makes me feel like I was so close, just nearly there. If anyone has tips on how to deal with rejections such as this one, please let me know.

On top of the pain of the rejection, my bf who I love very dearly is currently on a boat in the middle of the ocean about 8000km away for his job. He left 2 weeks ago, and probably wont return for another 3 weeks. He tries to call me when he has time, but he’s in another time zone and his reception is so bad I can’t even understand what he is saying most of the time.. which makes me even sadder. I know he tries to keep in contact as much as possible and he feels bad about the fact that I miss him. I know he misses me too but I think that the person that’s ‘left behind’ will always feel worse. Long distance sucks, even if its temporary :(((

Currently trying to cheer myself up with some Twin Peaks (agent cooper is my favorite character ever), yoghurt and a guinness my bf left behind. Cheers :)

Got rejected for my dream internship & bf is currently 8000km away. Vanilla yoghurt, guinness & twin peaks.
