UW-Seattle or NYU for Pre-med
Hello! I was committed to NYU but recently got off the UW waitlist and was wondering if anyone could help me make a decision. I was admitted to UW as a pre-science major and a liberal studies core major at NYU (Spring Admit), where I would be declared a CAS student after 2 years. I have a goal of going into psychiatry, and I feel like living in NYC might help me mature and expose me to more diverse people which could potentially help me in that field later on. I also feel like the liberal studies core could help me learn more philosophy/social science related topics, which could help with psychiatry, but aren't really required and might make the premed track harder. However, UW would be ~65k a year while NYU would be ~90k, so it'd be around 120k more over 4 years. I can just about afford 4 years at NYU, but going to UW would definitely make affording medical school a lot easier. I love the UW campus and Seattle, but NYC is just as amazing (imo). I'm pretty sure that both grossman and UW medicine are both great hospitals, so I don't know how they factor into my decision. If anyone has any insight on the premed experience at either of these schools, or could help me at all in making my decision help me out please!
