It feels intrusive to clean my daughters napph (diaper)

Newborn 0-8 Wks

7 weeks ago, my wife and I welcomed our second child, a little girl, into the world.

I’ve always been a hands-on dad and I’m more than happy to do my part. With our son, who is now 5, I never had any issue changing wet or dirty nappies. It always felt completely natural and normal.

However, with my daughter, I feel really awkward and almost intrusive when I’m cleaning her. It feels like I shouldn’t be there, even though I know I’m her dad and I’m just taking care of her properly.

When she has a dirty nappy, I sometimes ask my wife to check that I’ve cleaned all the poo away because I worry I haven’t done it properly. I don’t feel comfortable cleaning too deeply, and I’m scared of either not cleaning her enough or being too intrusive.

Is this a normal feeling for dads with daughters? Did anyone else feel like this at first, and did it get easier with time?
