How do I reach inland as Ocean's Hungry Grasp?

I've played mostly the Serpent so far and I wanted to play something different, but with Ocean I've ran into the problem of not being able to do anything about invaders building and ravaging inland. The cards cant reach them and I can only reach the coast with my presence tokens.

What can I do in solo play?
